Strengthening Foundations Through Co‑Creation: Building a Great Wall for Equipment Corrosion Prevention and Control | A delegation from Yangzi Petrochemical Company Visited Our Company for Research and Exchange.
2023-08-24
To gain a deeper understanding of cutting‑edge technologies in advanced corrosion monitoring and detection for domestic petrochemical equipment, as well as corrosion prevention information management and utilization, and long‑term, comprehensive corrosion protection and operational maintenance for process units, and to further strengthen equipment corrosion protection efforts, on August 8, a research team comprising Tan Jinlong, Deputy General Manager of Yangzi Petrochemical Company; Zhu Ruisong, Deputy Chief Engineer and Head of the Equipment Department; Ding Mingsheng, expert in special equipment and corrosion prevention; Tian Zhifeng, Deputy Director of the Refinery; Jiang Hongchao, Deputy Director of the Aromatics Plant; Zhang Guizhong, Deputy Director of the Storage and Transportation Plant; Yu Heng from the Refining Technology Section of the Technical Department; and Xu Peng, Secretary to the Management, traveled to our company’s Shenyang headquarters and the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, to conduct research and exchange activities related to corrosion prevention management technologies.

A delegation from Yangzi Petrochemical visited our company’s conference venue.
The exchange meeting was held in the Diamond Hill Conference Room of our company and was chaired by Hu Lihong, Executive Deputy General Manager. Zheng Liqun, Chairperson of the Board; Tang Zhiwen, General Manager; as well as heads of R&D, Production, Testing, and On-site Service departments attended the meeting. The conference also specially invited experts such as Teacher Zhang from the Metal Research Institute’s Failure Analysis Department to participate in this research visit. On behalf of our company, Chairperson Zheng Liqun extended a warm welcome to the Yangzi Petrochemical Research Delegation, looking back on the support and trust Yangzi Petrochemical has consistently extended to our company throughout their long-term collaboration, and expressed heartfelt gratitude. Chairperson Zheng noted that Zhongke Weier had made thorough preparations recently and hoped to present its advanced corrosion prevention and control technologies—as well as the work our company has carried out at several client enterprises—in a comprehensive and meticulous manner, ensuring that this research visit would be worthwhile for all the leaders at Yangzi Petrochemical.
Regarding the issues of concern to Yangzi Petrochemical, Zhongke Weier delivered presentations on topics including “Typical Corrosion Cases in Refineries and Their Remediation,” “Technical System for Corrosion Prevention and Maintenance of Production Units,” “Development Status of Corrosion Monitoring in Petrochemical Enterprises and Optimization Recommendations for Corrosion Monitoring at Yangzi Petrochemical,” “Application of Corrosion Case Databases and Anti-Corrosion Information Platforms,” “Pulse Eddy Current Inspection for Hidden Hazards in Refining Units,” and “Techniques and Effectiveness of Corrosion Inspection Under Insulation Layers (Including Small Nozzles).” Many of these topics directly addressed the key priorities in Yangzi Petrochemical’s current corrosion prevention efforts. During the meeting, General Manager Tan and General Manager Zhu engaged in discussions on building a comprehensive corrosion prevention system, conducting hazard inspections—including managing small nozzles—and implementing corrective measures for corrosion monitoring. They also learned about best practices employed by other companies such as Yanhua and Hainan Refining & Chemical, as well as the effectiveness of PetroChina’s “One Diagram, Two Tables, One Manual” approach to corrosion management. At times, they issued work directives to nearby plant directors and corrosion experts, while experts like Ding and Plant Director Tian also shared their own concerns and exchanged ideas. Taking advantage of the lunch break, the Yangzi Petrochemical delegation toured and received guidance on our company’s R&D and production center for corrosion monitoring and detection technologies.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Vice General Manager Tan Jinlong of Yangzi Petrochemical delivered a summary. He first expressed his gratitude for our company’s preparations for the research visit, and commended our rigorous work ethic as well as our commitment to steady, methodical progress in technology and continuous innovation. He also urged the members of the Yangzi Petrochemical research team to carefully analyze and document the findings of this visit, applying them to Yangzi Petrochemical’s future corrosion prevention management efforts, with the goal of elevating Yangzi Petrochemical’s corrosion control initiatives to an industry‑leading level. Mr. Tan stated that he hopes Zhongke Weier will continue to deepen its expertise in the field of corrosion prevention, collaborate closely with the company, gain a thorough understanding of Yangzi Petrochemical’s actual needs, and work together to lay a solid foundation for corrosion prevention, diligently addressing all aspects of equipment hazard mitigation, thereby jointly building an unbreakable fortress of equipment corrosion control and ensuring the long‑term stability and safety of the plant’s operations.
